Edmonton Uncovered: Pros & Cons of Living Here

Pros and Cons of Living in Edmonton Alberta Are you considering relocating your family to Edmonton, Alberta, due to its reputation as a great place for family life, strong job market, and its vibrant communities? But don't know where to start. I have had the opportunity to see the city grow since moving here when I was a teenager from Ontario. These are my 5 pros and cons of confidently moving to Edmonton. Here’s what you’ll learn in this video ✅Is Edmonton Family-Friendly ✅Do people in Edmonton dress differently than in other provinces ✅Is it a good place for employment ✅Wintertime in the city ✅What buyers are looking for in different neighbourhoods   Family-Friendly Adventures Edmonton features an array of attractions and activities tailored for families. You'll discover beautiful parks featuring trails and playgrounds, some may include spray parks for your family to enjoy running through in the summertime. The city is also home to museums and educational centers such as the Alberta Museum and the TELUS World of Science where my family enjoyed seeing The Art Of The Brick exhibit it was incredible seeing all the world’s most famous art masterpieces built by little bricks!! My favourite part of the exhibit was the innovative multimedia photography by Dean West. Whether your family enjoys hiking, fishing, camping or skiing, Edmonton has 4 ski hills for your family to spend time at.  My family enjoys skiing at Rabiit Hill and Snow Valley, Edmonton has many opportunities for your family to enjoy outdoor adventures and exploring around the city.. Edmonton's Dress Code: Myth vs. Reality There's a common misconception about how we dress here in Edmonton You may have heard we wear, cowboy boots, jeans, plaid shirts, and cowboy hats, all while enjoying country music. You might wonder if your family would blend. This image is far from the truth for fitting in. In Edmonton, our clothing choices mirror those found anywhere else, with the exception of winter. During the colder months, we simply layer up with warmer longer jackets, snow pants, toques, and quality gloves to stay comfortable against the chill. So, no need to worry about standing out; Edmonton embraces diversity in all aspects, including fashion. Strong Job Market  Edmonton has a strong and growing job market, with many industries expanding and hiring. This is great news for families looking for stability and security in their careers. Whether you're looking for work in tech, energy, healthcare, or education, you'll find plenty of opportunities in Edmonton. Cold weather in the wintertime It can get very cold here during the wintertime. It can get to -40 here. There will be days you will want to stay home and not go anywhere. My suggestion is to make sure to get your groceries and anything else you will need while there is a cold snap so you don't need to leave the house unless you need to. You will also need to purchase a few extension cords to pull in your vehicle. The reason I say a few is because you might drive away with one still plugged into your vehicle. It may have happened to me on a few occasions when I was leaving home in a rush or it was dark out and I forgot I unplugged it. Lively Community Edmonton is a city that always has something going on. Hosting more than 50 festivals and events annually and countless outdoor activities. Edmonton isn't just about its entertainment and culture;  At its heart, are the family-friendly neighbourhoods, each with their unique amenities and a strong sense of community. Families are gravitating towards these areas, tailoring their choice to what matters most to them, it could be the convenience of work commute, access to schools, or certain lifestyle amenities, like living close to a beach. If you have any questions about Edmonton and its family neighbourhoods, feel free to drop a comment, or send me an email and I’m happy to give you the straight goods.
